Synopsis by Elizabeth Smith

Talented dancer Peter Martins performs and interacts during rehearsals with leading directors Jerome Robbins and Mr. Balanchine. The latter director had a particularly strong impact on Martins since Balanchine was known to be a man who demanded full allegiance to his creative methods and vision. Nevertheless, Martins chose to ignore what he felt were rather daunting odds against his success because he felt it was critical to prove that he could achieve the very things he had been told he could never do well. This program pays homage to the full dynamics of the creative process.
