Synopsis by Hal Erickson

In this Van Beuren "Tom and Jerry" cartoon (not to be confused with MGM's later cat-and-mouse duo), artist Tom goes out to the country for inspiration, painting on his dancing easel. Enter Jerry, who owns a magic pencil capable of drawing images in the air--including an egg, which lands on Tom's face and precipates a merry chase. Later, Tom tries his hand with the magic pencil, but the item only works for Jerry, who not only sketches a trio of singing vegetables--which, in turn, morph into the hero, heroine and villain of an old-fashioned, tied-to-the-tracks melodrama. The musical score features such favorites as "I'm Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover", "Yes We Have No Bananas" and "You've Got Me in the Palm of Your Hand."
