Pedro So (1971)

Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Pedro is a homeless wanderer. This Portuguese film follows him on his aimless daily round, cadging coins, wandering the road, and doing odd jobs such as tending sheep. The first part of the film is underexposed to an extraordinary degree; this is perhaps intended to be a stylistic device. Soon after he visits a brothel (just for conversation), he is killed by a hit-and-run driver who rolls his body into a ditch. There, one can assume that his corpse will continue the pattern established during his life: it will be unnoticed.
