Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
There is nothing especially exceptional in this documentary that features scenes from South America, the U.S., Africa, and Asia unless its host and writer, Group Captain Peter Townsend (1914-1995) is taken into account. Townsend and Princess Margaret had just broken off their relationship after she was refused permission to marry him for the second time (Townsend was divorced). Amiable but very British, Townsend journeys around the world in his Land Rover, making a trip from Paris to Singapore, Perth to Sydney, Vancouver to Buenos Aires, and Cape Town back to Paris. For royal-watchers and anyone interested in the lives of the famous, Townsend provides an added attraction to the panorama of landscapes and cities he visits.
