Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Pregnant with a young boy and unable to agree with her partner as to whether or not they will circumcise their child, filmmaker Danae Elon travels the globe in an effort to better understand why such a highly consequential and irreversible decision is so often made without a second thought. Despite being raised in Israel, Elon is a secular Jew who sees the entire ritual of circumcision as outdated and absurd. But her partner Phillip hails from a traditional French/Algerian Jewish family, and wholeheartedly embraces the tradition of the bris. With no easy solution in sight, Elon decides that her only option for making an informed decision on the matter is to interview people from various cultures around the world.
