Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Stella Dean (Sonia Markova) lives a happy life in Pleasantville. She has a brief flirtation with artist Milton Taylor (Sidney Mason), which angers John Radon (William Lampe). Stella is really in love with Radon, but he takes advantage of her. Stella feels her life is ruined and she leaves Pleasantville to join a musical show under the name Claire Leone. Her mother (Julia Stuart) dies of a broken heart. When Milton travels to New York he sees Stella, but doesn't recognize her. He does, however, think she would make the perfect model for his painting of the Madonna. When he is done he finally recognizes Stella. She thinks that his choosing her to pose as the Madonna was nothing but a cynical joke. Both Taylor and Stella turn to drink but Stella eventually reforms and opens up a refuge for homeless girls. Taylor returns to Pleasantville in an attempt to put his life back together. He finds Stella there, praying in church.
