Synopsis by Alice Day

The very real concerns of health care professionals who are exposed to HIV-positive patients on a daily basis are dealt with in Overcoming Irrational Fear of AIDS. When these feelings become dominant, the workers might not be able to provide the necessary care needed by the patients. This program addresses the issues that arise when fear or disapproval influences those who are expected to treat the terminally ill. A stress management expert, Dr. Arthur Lange, leads the discussion among several health care workers as they talk about their fears, the worries of their families, and the ethics involved.
