Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The Other Side of the Door was adapted from a novel by Lucia Campbell. Eschewing the finer points of the novel's plot, the film concentrates on action and suspense. Falsely accused of murder, adventurer Johnny Montgomery (Harold Lockwood) is rescued from jail by a band of friendly Mexican bandits. Masterminding the breakout is fetching senorita Carlotta Valencia (Ola Humphrey), who has a yen for Johnny. But our hero's heart belongs to his former fiancee (May Allison), even though it was her testimony who sent him to prison. Rejected by Johnny, Carlotta commits suicide -- but not before leaving a note behind, in which she confesses to the murder for which Johnny was blamed. With this new evidence, Johnny is exonerated and at last permitted to return to his now-contrite sweetheart. Since stars Harold Lockwood and May Allison were a firmly established screen team, there was little doubt as to the outcome of The Other Side of the Door.
