Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
Based on a bleak novel by Dimiter Dimov, this Bulgarian film tells of the thwarted love between Fanny Horn (Edith Soloy), an American nurse, and Father Heredia (Jan Englerd), a Jesuit priest/doctor serving in the buffer zone between the two factions fighting in the Spanish Civil War. Though the nurse loves the priest, instead of returning her affections he represses his feelings, growing sufficiently mad and compelling Fanny to take drastic measures.
