Synopsis by Cara Saposnik
For thousands of years, a small but strong Jewish community existed in Ethiopia. Never fully integrated into Ethiopian society, they were known as "the Falashas," or the "outsiders." With the onslaught of civil war in Ethiopia, there was increased fear over the fate of this ancient and important community. This video tells the story of the rescue of Ethiopian Jews by the Israeli government. Named Operation Moses because of the biblical Moses who shepherded the Israelites out of Egypt, this was a substantial undertaking of massive physical and emotional proportions.
