Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

One of the silent screen's few "cowgirls," Edythe Sterling starred in this extraordinary Western. Sterling actually saves her leading man, Jack Connolly, who is tied to a log by a villain and left to drown in a raging river. Connolly plays a Northwest Mountie hunting down the villain who killed his partner. Sterling, who at the time was married to Western star Art Acord, saw her career decline in the less progressive 1920s, leaving films altogether in 1923 in favor of vaudeville. One-Way Trail was produced by Republic, a short-lived firm organized by Lewis J. Selznick and not associated with the later company bearing the same name.
