The Tribeca Film Institute joined forces with the Marrakech International Film Festival Foundation in 2005 to bring together sixteen student filmmakers from Morocco and the United States for a master's class in directing with the acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami. A camera crew was on hand to record the meeting between these young artists and the veteran director, and Once Upon A Time In Marrakech is a documentary by Seifo Samadian which observes the cultural differences between Kiarostami's charges, as well as the love of an art form that brings them together. Featuring highlights from the films made by the students and an appearance by Martin Scorsese, Once Upon A Time In Marrakech received its North American premiere at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival.
