Lily's family goes through the motions as people from all walks of Phil's life descend upon the house for his funeral and shiva. Emotions run high when Lily's brother Aaron receives a special pass from the mental hospital he has lived in for the last 20 years and is able to attend the funeral. Grace and Aaron interact in a way they never have before, both mussing on how difficult it is to control your own destiny. Jake is very much a part of the mourning process and it begins to dawn on Lily just how much he loved her father. Later, Phil's will is read; in the end, what is most at issue is the ownership of the family restaurant. Lily now controls the majority of the business while Jake's entire livelihood is based on his job as the restaurant's manager. Lily reassures Jake that she does not plan on firing him. Lily's mother Barbara returns to Florida.
