Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Things are pretty bitter between the Yancys and Kirbys, who live on opposite sides of Bitter Creek. The problem starts with the romance between Clay Yancy and Caroline Kirby (Justina Huff). After they quarrel, Clay swears that no Kirby can cross the bridge that separates the two families until one of their woman buys their way with a kiss. The feuding goes on for 20 years, but in spite of it a young couple, Virginia Yancy and Robert Kirby, manage to secretly marry. Finally the court rules that the toll is illegal, and Clay angrily decides to blow up the bridge. He's helped out by Jed Tolliver, who is in love with Virginia. But when the bridge blows up, so does Jed. Virginia and Robert, who had been on the bridge, manage to escape with their lives. A new bridge is built and Caroline and Clay patch up their longtime misunderstanding with a kiss.
