Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Granddad Steele (James Barrows) fought in the Civil War, but most of his relatives find his exaggerated stories of the fighting tiresome. Only grandson John (Lloyd Hughes) is willing to spend time with the old man, and he gets in an argument with his father when Granddad is banished from the home. John leaves home and heads for Texas, where he gets a job on the Baredo Blade, a newspaper run by Mary Manners (Betty Francisco). He takes Granddad along, who finds a fellow veteran -- from the other side -- to fight with. The town's sheriff is involved with a gang of gun runners, and John's brother is the one supplying the rifles and ammunition. Although John helps put an end to these doings, the sheriff escapes and attacks Mary, who John has come to love. John rescues her, and when the sheriff tries to escape again, old Granddad kills him with his Civil War sword.
