When Travers Gladwyn (Tom Moore) returns early from his trip to Europe he discovers that a thief has been planning to rob his house. Instead of stopping the crook in his tracks, Gladwyn thinks it would be more fun to let him go ahead with his scheme. He borrows a police uniform from his pal, Officer 666 (Harry Dunkinwon), and thus garbed greets the burglar, Alf Wilson (Jerome Patrick), when he arrives at the Gladwyn residence. Wilson introduces himself to the "officer" as Gladwyn, which promises to be even more fun for the real Gladwyn, especially when pretty Helen (Jean Calhoun) shows up. She's about to elope with Wilson -- who she believes to be Gladwyn -- but then the real Gladwyn falls in love with her himself. He gets the girl, which thrills him so much that he winds up helping Wilson get away from the cops. This melodramatic farce comedy was based on the play by Augustin MacHugh and filmed once before, in 1914.
