Synopsis by Robert Firsching

Greek filmmaker Yiorgos Petridis directed this historically-themed melodrama set in 1856, when Queen Amalia orders a young lieutenant named Yiannis Megas (Anestis Vlachos) to find and personally execute the infamous playboy bandit Davelis (Alkis Yiannakas). The bandit happens to be one of Yiannis's closest friends, however, so the lieutenant doesn't make much effort to follow his orders until the men both fall in love with a beautiful Italian woman named Luisa Bagoli (Anna Paspati), turning them into jealous romantic rivals. Luisa falls for Davelis and tries to smuggle him out of the country, but they are ambushed by Yiannis and his troops when they arrive at Zemeno, and both of the men die in the ensuing conflagration. A well-told story reminiscent of Hollywood swashbucklers of old, O Davelis co-stars Athinodoros Proussalis, Elli Xanthaki, and Christoforos Zikas.
