Synopsis by Cara Saposnik
Survivors and witnesses provide important insight in this documentary. Led by 24-year-old Mordechai Tenenbaum, a small group of resistance fighters tried to halt the Nazi plan to destroy the Bialystok ghetto. Once a thriving town and a center for Jewish life and learning, Bialystok was soon taken over by the hostile invaders. As in many other cities, the Jewish population was rounded up into a ghetto. Though they had few arms -- and close to no outside assistance -- in 1943, a brave band of fighters fought hard to resist the Nazis.
