Synopsis by Mark Deming

In the midst of London's busy Notting Hill district sits an unusual oasis of calm and quiet, the Most Holy Trinity Monastery, which is home to an order of cloistered nuns. The nuns have taken vows to avoid contact with the outside world and to limit verbal communication with one another to two designated periods per day; they devote their days to prayer and to their chores around the monastery. Filmmaker Michael Whyte began a correspondence with the nuns of Most Holy Trinity, and after several years gained their trust; they permitted him to bring a camera crew in to film them as they went about their daily routines, and No Greater Love offers an intimate glimpse into the lives of these women who have devoted their lives to God. The film also includes interviews with a number of the nuns, who speak openly about their faith, the challenges of their calling and their spiritual crises. No Greater Love was an official selection at the 2009 Edinburgh Film Festival.
