synopsis
The audience for Nighthawks has barely settled into their chairs when international terrorist Rutger Hauer calmly blows up a London department store full of innocent bystanders. Because several schoolkids were killed, Hauer is ostracized by his fellow terrorists (this isn't exactly Real Life, is it?) To regain pride of place, Hauer heads to New York, where he stages several spectacular and dangerous hostage-taking situations-one of them in a dangling cable car. Seemingly the only salvation for Hauer's various victims is New York cop Sylvester Stallone, who is equally determined to "make good:" he has joined the anti-terrorist squad as a roundabout means of patching up his marriage to Lindsay Wagner.
