With Asuka lingering in a semi-conscious state, NERV arranges for a replacement pilot for Unit 02, Kaworu Nagisa. Kaworu's innocent nature is almost alien, and he and Shinji quickly form a bond. Things are never as they seem, however, and soon it becomes clear that Kaworu is not what he appears. As he reveals his true nature, Shinji is left to wonder if Kaworu is betraying the connection they've made, or if his intentions are more complex.
