Synopsis by Bhob Stewart
This Finnish thriller is an evident homage to the butterfly collector (Terence Stamp) in William Wyler's 1965 psychological suspense drama, The Collector, adapted from John Fowles' novel. Ami (Elina Hurme) lives with her mentally disturbed sister Eevi (Leea Klemola), a young woman driven by inner demons and an obsessive craving for love and affection. Ami wants privacy with her lesbian lover, so she tells Eevi to move out. Hurt, Eevi reacts by stealing Ami's car and picking up hitchhiker Jusu (Robin Svartstrom), who makes the mistake of rejecting Eevi's sexual advances. With Jusu as her first victim, Eevi later kidnaps middle-aged butterfly collector Anja (Rea Mauranen). Shown at the 1997 Thessaloniki Film Festival and the 1977 Venice Film Festival.
