Synopsis by Alice Day

The Holy Land is a destination of extremes, and in Nature: The Holy Land - Sweet Water, Bitter Sea, the viewer's experience will span the tops of mountains to the depths of the Dead Sea. King Herod built a fortress atop Masada to protect his family in case of civil war, and the ruins of this structure can still be seen. While more than 70 percent of the area is desert, there is an oasis offering respite from the desolation and burning sun. The stalactites of the Dead Sea are seen, and at the sea's forbidding edges, a group of creatures finds a way to live and breed despite harsh conditions.
