Synopsis by Alice Day

In this investigation of the unusual events that created the continent of Australia, the viewer will learn about the two marine zones that converge around Australia, creating both temperate and tropical seas. Nature: Australian Seas Under Capricorn also looks at the way the continent emerged from the land mass known as Gondwana 45 million years ago. The unique coastlines of Australia include the cool southern areas of kelp forests and the scenic wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. The rich, diverse marine life is supported by the large amount of nutrients available in the seas surrounding the continent.
