Synopsis by Alice Day
The cheetah is known for its high speeds, which clock in at over 60 miles per hour. As this National Geographic film Season of the Cheetah shows, however, it can only sustain these speeds for short periods. These bursts are sufficient enough to give the cheetah a superior advantage over other predators though, and they are able to quickly overtake prey such as gazelles on the Serengeti plains. But this doesn't guarantee an easy existence or a constant food supply, and the cheetah must deal with the constant harshness of its African environment to survive in a forbidding landscape.
