Synopsis by Nathan Southern

For obvious reasons, modern paleontology draws inexorably from conjecture and hypothesis. Scientists typically unearth the small bones or teeth sturdy enough to withstand fossilization, and then draw deductive conclusions about dinosaurs based upon those small elements. The notion of an entire dinosaur mummy, preserved from the Paleolithic Age, is almost unheard of, so when scientists landed on just such a find, it marked a truly extraordinary occurrence and a historical first - offering paleontologists rare and invaluable insights into how prehistoric beasts moved and functioned. The program National Geographic: Dino Autopsy documents this event, details the inferences drawn from it, and speculates on the implications for modern Paleolithic science.
