Synopsis by Hal Erickson
As the title indicates, this cable TV reality series was geared toward country & western fans. Out of 8,000 applicants, 12 finalists were chosen to vie in a music-talent elimination contest, telecast live each week for nine weeks from the stage of the BellSouth Acuff Theater in Nashville's Opryland. Whoever made the final cut was awarded a recording contract, with his or her first album produced by singer Clint Black, the series' creative consultant. Hosted by Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell, Nashville Star debuted March 8, 2003.
