Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
Based on a Guinean legend, this musical drama about two wives and one husband unfolds to the sound of stringed instruments and the beat of drums and dancing feet, as the story of jealousy, murder, and magic is conveyed without narration or dialogue. The dance segments are linked to each other by means of an extensive "intertitle" in pantomime, and they show how one of the wives was murdered by the other in a pique of jealousy -- with her older daughter next in line to be poisoned if something is not done. But the enforcement of moral standards does not always take the form of punishment through a court of law -- as the surviving older wife will soon discover.
