Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka
This is a low-key drama-comedy by Danish director Jon Bang Carlsen about the elderly Dagmar (Karen Lykkehus) and her reminiscences of a wayward youth. Carlsen's depiction of Dagmar as a young stripper is a little too cleansed of the harsh realities and mistreatment suffered by most women forced into that career, but his point does not lie in social commentary. Rather, Dagmar idealizes her younger years as she and the other senior citizens in a retirement home are confined to a rigid schedule and tight supervision. As she slowly begins to manifest signs of senility, the rebelliousness that simmered under the surface several decades ago finds a way to express itself.
