In this Polish film, Malisz (Franciszek Trzeciak) and his wife (Ana Nieborowska) are barely tolerated by their families. As the couple struggles through, working at one part-time job after another, they receive little help. They turn to crime, robbing a mailman in a postal money-order scheme, and eventually murder the elderly couple with whom they have been living. Based on a true story, this tragic drama sharply illuminates the characters of these two misfits.
