Synopsis by Janiss Garza

When Mrs. Plum (Marie Tempest) strikes oil on her land, she goes to the city with her son (Eddie Lyons). The unsophisticated duo immediately encounter fortune hunters. Penniless Lord Burlington (W. Grahame Browne) romances Mrs. Plum, while a society woman, Mrs. Van Zant (Jean Hathaway), pushes her daughter (Violet MacMillan) on the son. In addition, crooks are after the deeds to Mrs. Plum's property. They are stolen shortly before she is to wed Lord Burlington, and he insists on postponing the wedding until they are found. Meanwhile, Mrs. Van Zant has forbidden the young people to marry, but they elope anyway. Lord Burlington realizes that he loves Mrs. Plum more than her money and returns to beg her forgiveness. She reveals that she wasn't so naive after all -- the crooks made off with fake papers and she merely pretended to be broke to test Burlington's love. Eddie Lyons was also co-author of this comedy. His future partner, Lee Moran, had a small role as a detective.
