The Jewel in the Crown is an unauthorized biography of the singer Morrissey, who, along with guitarist Johnny Marr, formed one of the most influential bands in rock, the Smiths. After the Smiths dissolved, Morrissey soon moved to the United States in order to continue on with a solo career. In addition to archival materials, the film utilizes interviews with collaborators like Tony Wilson, Jonny Bridgewood, Craig Gannon, and Stephen Street.
