Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

This engaging, gentle and improvisational black-and-white film was written, produced and directed by Rick Schmidt, author of the book Feature Filmmaking at Used Car Prices, for the astonishingly tiny sum of $15,000. The story concerns the life of Morgan (played by the director's own son, Morgan Schmidt-Feng) a 17-year old about to be left on his own. His extremely poor father cannot really take care of him, and his mother is headed off to New York. The lad takes in all all of his life's vicissitudes with an inspiring cheefulness, even as he learns that his girlfriend is pregnant, he must register for the draft, and that he has just been fired from his deliveryman job. Most of the cast are family members or friends, with the exception of professional actor Willie Boy Walker who plays the father.
