Synopsis by Jason Buchanan

A young Russian orphan adopted by an American couple is paralyzed by her abusive adoptive father, but finds a new set of parents who strive to give her a better life in this inspirational drama inspired by actual events. Kelsey Jurgen was just two years old when she moved to America. Though her future was looking bright, it all came crashing down when her adoptive father flew into a rage and severed her spine. Overwhelmed with compassion after hearing Kelsey's tragic story, kindly couple Paul and Caroline Mihalec agree to adopt the paraplegic child after her former father receives a stiff jail sentence. Though trusting her new parents proves a difficult emotional endeavor, Kelsey, now eight, finds her burgeoning friendship with troubled teen Melissa Preston instilling her with the strength to open up, and pursue her dream of becoming a ballerina. Meanwhile, talented basketball player Melissa attempts to adjust to life with her newly-single mother, and win the scholarship that could help to turn her life around. With their newfound friendship and their faith in God Kelsey and Melissa soon learn that life's setbacks are just a means of helping us to realize our true potential.
