Charles "Buddy" Rogers, who had recently graduated from Paramount's talent school, has one of the leads in this comedy-drama, based on a Peter B. Kyne "Cappy Ricks" story. Ship owner Cappy Ricks (Albert Gran) is in fierce competition with his rival, Hinchfield (E.J. Ratcliffe). This threatens to put a damper on the romance between Ricks' daughter, Betty (Mary Brian), and Hinchfield's son, Willie (Rogers). While his father is out of town, Willie decides to overhaul his business. With the slogan, "More pay, less work," in mind, he proceeds to install a modern system and hire a bevy of flappers for the office. Willie manages to land a big order from one of Ricks' clients. A 50,000-dollar bond is put up to guarantee that the cargo will reach its destination by a certain date. Willie finds himself in trouble and only makes the deadline by commandeering one of Ricks' ships. Everything gets smoothed out, the rival ship owners make up, and Willie wins Betty.
