Synopsis by Nathan Southern

Gioachino Rossini's Biblically-themed 1827 opera Mosè in Egitto (Moses in Egypt), received an interpretation from Milan's Teatro degli Arcimboldi in this 2003 production. It stars Ildar Abdrazakov as Moses, Erwin Schrott as The Pharoah, Giuseppe Filianoti as Aménophis and Tomislav Mužek as Éliézer. The Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro alla Scala provide musical accompaniment/support, with Riccardo Muti conducting and Bruno Casoni serving as chorus master. Gianni Quaranta designed the sets, Carlo Diappi created the costumes, and Mischa van Hoecke choreographs. Luca Ronconi directs for the stage.
