This silent melodrama about the Alaskan gold country offers nothing that would make it stand out from the others in its genre. When tenderfoot Dan Burke (William Desmond arrives in the Yukon he is told of a mysterious valley which contains a rare and valuable strain of "flat" gold. He heads for the valley with his dog team but collapses from exhaustion during a blizzard. Gaston Chaudiare (Charles K. French) and his daughter, Aline (Vivian Rich), discover Burke's unconscious body and they care for him as he recovers. The flat gold actually comes from an unrecorded mine belonging to Chaudiare. When Clay Hibbing (Jack Richardson) tries to force himself on Aline, Burke gives him a sound thrashing. Hibbing is determined to stake a claim on Chaudiare's mine, but Burke does all he can to stop him. Hibbing accidentally shoots his partner-in-crime and tries to place the blame on Burke, but everything gets straightened out at the recorder's office. Burke wins a share of Chaudiare's mine, and Aline's hand.
