Views of crowds and street scenes in Milano, Italy during 1983 fill this silent documentary, silent except for the electronic-style music that competes with each frame for attention, and usually wins. Without narration, and with happenstance visual angles that show, for the most part, no discernible conscious attempts at composition, director Ermanno Olmi has not created views of Milano that are likely to hold an audience for any length of time.
