Gypsy (Peggy Hyland) is a ticket-taker for a circus which is perpetually in the red. Owner Jerry Crump (Willard Louis) wants to unload it, and the likely prospect for that is Jack Hamilton (Jack Mulhall), a young man with more money than sense. Since Jack is in love with Gypsy, he's glad to take it over. But one day, Gypsy's "mother," the circus fortune teller, confesses that the girl was really stolen away from her rich family, the Pomeroys. Jack tells the family, and they come and fetch Gypsy, whose real name is Susie Alice Pomeroy. But Susie, or Gypsy, finds life with her parents (Edwin B. Tilton and Vera Lewis) rather stuffy, and they in turn are horrified at her low-class ways. They don't approve of her relationship with Jack, either. The Pomeroys lock their wayward daughter in her room, but she escapes and runs off to Jack. When they return after midnight, it is her birthday -- she has now come of age and she and Jack can get married. This film was based on a story by Richard Washburn Child.
