Meet the Marks (2002)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Apparently inspired by the theatrical feature The Truman Show, the Fox Network reality series Meet the Marks endeavored to stage a weekly sitcom without letting the guest stars in on the fact that they were appearing on TV. A group of improv actors portrayed a typical American family, living in a set resembling a typical American house. On each episode, the actors tried to inveigle unsuspecting citizens into visiting their home and unwittingly participating in scripted scenarios. It should come as no surprise that the series was assembled by the instigators of America's Funniest Home Videos. Meet the Marks debuted on July 15, 2002, in anticipation of an official premiere in September of that same year.
