Synopsis by Janiss Garza

By the time French comedian Max Linder signed a contract with Essanay Studios, he had already done his best work, and it shows on this, his first two-reeler for the American company. It opens with Linder in France, being visited by a representative from Essanay, who gives him a two million dollar contract. So Max and his friend (Ernest Maupain) seat sail for the States, submarine scare notwithstanding. There's a lot of seasickness jokes, some funny stuff with Max trying to play a piano which is sliding back and forth with the rolling of the ship, and, naturally, a submarine crash. Critics made it no secret that they were disappointed in this picture.
