An old skipper, Captain Ward (George Periolat), has his granddaughter Sally (Mary Miles Minter) as his first mate. Because his daughter died when Sally was born without revealing the identity of the father, Ward has been very protective of the girl. But one day, a wandering dog brings her to meet Judge Gordon (Jack Connolly) and law student Hugh Schuyler (Allan Forrest). As they get to know each other, Hugh and Sally fall in love, and one day the judge realizes that Sally looks an awful lot like the girl he secretly married and lost track of -- yes, it turns out that he's Sally's father. So Sally gets both a dad and a fiancée. The saving grace of this lightweight Minter vehicle was the performance of the dog...who had to play its part while wearing a cast on one leg.
