Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Philip Strong (Robert Conness) is the pastor at a fashionable church. He has an upwardly mobile wife, Sarah (Mabel Trunnelle) who wants to see him become a bishop. But one day Philip is visited by a transient who calls himself "Brother Man" (Bigelow Cooper) and who talks about the sufferings of the poor. This inspires Strong to give up his wealthy congregation and go into the slums. He loses his wife, their child dies, and he eventually loses his position at the slum mission because of an outcast he has befriended. His wife finally comes around, but before they can reconcile, Strong dies. The end of the film shows Strong at the entrance to heaven, being welcomed by Brother Man. Even in the 1910s it was acknowledged that this film would appeal primarily to a strongly religious audience.
