The Fox network's Married by America was based on the premise that a man and a woman could be persuaded to fall in love and march to the altar based upon the preferences of a vast TV audience. The 25 potential suitors (ages 21 through 39) were boiled down to ten couples -- five men and five women -- all total strangers to one another until brought together by the series' fans. In the weeks that followed, the viewers would pick the likely spouses, who would then spend a month together before deciding whether or not to tie the knot. And there are still people who scoff at arranged marriages in other countries. Married by America debuted March 3, 2003.
