Synopsis by Mark Deming
Maria Callas was perhaps the most celebrated operatic diva of her time, a woman whose remarkable talents and fiery personality made her an international sensation whose fame spread far beyond the usual boundaries of classical music. Maria Callas: The Callas Conversations is drawn from a series of interviews Callas recorded for British television in 1968, in which she speaks frankly about her life and her legend. Also included are three arias from a 1965 recital filmed for French television, including pieces by Massenet, Bellini, and Puccini.
