Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Self-made millionaire John R. Graham finds himself saddled with the usual spoiled college-boy son. When sonny begins keeping time with a chorus girl, Graham threatens to cut off his allowance. Angrily, John Jr. declares that he will make it in life on his own, without his father's money backing him up. The boy journeys to a fishing community, where instead of hunkering down to work he allows himself to be cared for by a dewey-eyed fisherman's daughter. Ultimately, however, John Jr. is forced to prove his manhood, which he does in spectacular fashion. Newly enervated, our hero returns to the Big City, where he saves Graham Sr. from financial ruin. So cliché-ridden was Man's Making that even its screenwriter felt obliged to apologize via a subtitle which read "The Old, Old Story."
