Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein

Probably filmed several years earlier than its 1923 release date, this obscure silent Western starred a veteran of the genre, Fred Church. Church had appeared in Broncho Billy Anderson's early stock companies and played Coyote Simpson in the popular "Snakeville Comedies." There were few starring opportunities in the '20s, and late in the decade, Church changed his billing to Montana Bill in an unsuccessful attempt to jump-start a waning career. The Man from New York was produced by a company known as Great Western Pictures, which had earlier released a minor 2-reel Western featuring Emmett Dalton, The Desert Man (1920).
