Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
R&B icon Patti LaBelle stars in writer/director Charles Randolph-Wright's big screen adaptation of the off-Broadway hit about a young gospel singer who clashes with her preacher mother after becoming a pop star. Amara Winter (Ciara) has a voice that could shake the pillars of heaven. Every Sunday morning, her voice lifts the spirit of the lord up for all to exalt. But when Amara abandons the congregation for a shot at superstardom, her risqué image draws the ire of her disapproving mother Lillian (Lynn Whitfield), a respected preacher. Now, in order to avoid losing the thing that matters most to both of them, Amara and her mother must find a way to see past their differences, and reconnect through the power of faith.
