Synopsis by Sandra Brennan

The daily lives of five ordinary black African women living in Cape Town are in this documentary which presents a feminine view of apartheid. As the camera follows them, the women express their views and observations. Iris is a health-care worker in community health. She describes her attempts to educate her five children while coping with the violent deaths of two of her other children. Sheila tells about her life-long commitment to political activism. Dinah, who lives with her family of nine in a small home tells how the murder of a neighbor spurred her into becoming politically active. Others are also profiled.
