Synopsis by Robert Firsching
Shot back-to-back with the inferior Les Exploits Erotiques de Maciste dans L'Atlantide, this entertaining erotic adventure places Maciste (Waldemar Wohlfahrt) in Medieval France, where the duplicitous Pygar (Robert Woods) sets a trap for the legendary strongman. Promising unimaginable riches and sensual delights, Pygar tricks Maciste into undertaking an expedition to Antigua in search of a lost tribe of beautiful Amazons led by Queen Arminda (Marie-France Broquet). Once he arrives, Maciste discovers that Pygar made a deal with Arminda, and is soon captured and pressed into stud service to propagate the tribe. But Arminda falls for Maciste, and he must help her reclaim the treasure when Pygar and an Amazon traitor named Yuka (Lina Romay) steal it and escape. While director Jesus Franco's film is just as much a softcore exploitation film as its companion, it is much more skillfully assembled and provides some engaging moments.
